A private Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Maude Eva Carr-Miller, of Blanchard, will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021. Interment will be at 12 noon in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sister Maude Eva Carr-Miller was born December 8, 1928 to the union of the late Julia Ann Wade Carr and George Carr.
Early in life, Mama accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was baptized at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Blanchard, Louisiana and remained a faithful member until she was called home. Mama was a devoted Christian who strived to live according to God’s Word by sharing her faith with her children, family, and anyone she had contact with. Her love for Christ was exemplified in the way she gave of herself as a mighty prayer warrior and Missionary. She lived God’s Word by visiting the sick, feeding the hungry, and helping those in need. Not only was she a fisherman, but she was also a fisher of men. As a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, and Usher, she served God until the Lord said, “Servant Well Done.”
On December 17, 1947 Mama was united in marriage with the love of her life, Mr. Leroy Miller, Sr. To this union 15 children were born. Mama was a “Phenomenal Woman” with many gifts and talents. She was a master cook, seamstress, gardener, farmer who raised pigs, chickens, guineas, geese, cows, and a few goats, until they chewed all the clothes from the line. She had a green thumb with the prettiest flowers you ever wanted to see. Mama was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother. She was a disciplinarian who ruled with an iron claw. Mama rose before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household, prepared dinner most days by noon, and made sure her children were prepared for church on Saturday night. Mama was energetic, strong, and a hard worker. Not only was she a jack of all trades, but she mastered them all as well.
Once her children were adults and extended her help with her grandchildren, Mama decided to fulfill her own dream. At the age of 77, she enrolled in school, making all A’s and receiving her Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate. Mama began a career away from home at IHS Nursing Home, making her family even more proud. She worked for a couple of months and resigned due to the poor patient care she witnessed.
On Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 6:00 A.M., our beloved “Queen Mother”, Maude Eva Carr-Miller, transitioned from labor to reward.
